Jurong Central had our countdown celebration on 31 Dec 12 and more than 1,500 residents were joined by Mediacorp artiste Ruien to welcome 2013. The atmosphere was electrifying.
A few days ago, the government has announced a slew of measures (http://www.nptd.gov.sg) to boost the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) from the current 1.2 to 1.5. We need a TFR of 2.1 to replace ourselves. The measures include allowing married couples with children aged below 16 who are first time buyers to get priority for HDB flats among others. In addition, the white paper on population is due to be released soon. Do you think these measures to grow the core of citizens are effective? Do you have other ideas on how to encourage Singaporeans to get married and have babies? What is the sweet spot for work-life balance?
If you have queries on our national population and economic policy or other government policies such as education, health care, transport, etc., please join us for a chat with Mr. S.
