Members of the Jurong Central Zone ‘A’ RC are volunteers residing within the precinct. A wide array of activities and events ranging from floor parties, block parties, festive celebrations and interest group activities (balloon sculpturing, cycling, table soccer, etc) for the residents have been organized by the RC to promote neighborliness, racial harmony, cohesiveness amongst the resident so as to enhance community engagement. Our youth outreach programme, include partnership with Fuhua Secondary School and Yuhua Secondary School to promote "Green and Safe Neighborhood" and "National Day - Decorate the Estate". The committee brought together our own local teenage Subbuteo (table soccer) and helped them to form an interest group and supported them in the recent ‘Youth Table Soccer Tournament’. The RC strongly believes that through the respective youth outreach programme, youths are provided with another perspective of getting connected with their community and their neighbours.
In line with its efforts to promote active and healthy lifestyles, the RC organizes Qigong practice sessions on every Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Hui Chun Cao every Saturday morning. The RC also conducts Fun walk on the 3rd Saturday of every month. In July 2011, the RC partnered with the Active Ageing Committee and a local hospital to conduct health screening (at subsidized rate) and organise health talks to promote greater health awareness for elderly residents.
The RC received the Excellence Award from the People’s Association in 2009, 2010 and 2011 for achieving 4-star grade for 3 consecutive years.
The RC would like to thank the residents for their supporting and active participation in their events and activities throughout the years. The residents’ support had been a great encouragement to the RC. With their continued support, the RC will continue to promote greater bonding and neighbourliness amongst the residents and reach out to the youths via the New Media.
